Brand Voice Engine is a content system for interior designers, made by Wit & Craft, a small studio based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This page explains what we collect when you visit brandvoiceengine.com (this marketing site), why, and what your options are. Plain language. No tracking pixels we don’t mention here.
A note on scope: this policy covers brandvoiceengine.com only. The Brand Voice Engine product itself (the application you sign in to) has its own privacy practices governed separately, since it stores account, brand profile, and content data.
What we collect
When you visit brandvoiceengine.com, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read, where visitors come from, and what content lands. We use Google’s Consent Mode v2: by default, analytics runs in a cookieless, aggregate mode — meaning we see traffic counts and basic page performance, but no personal identifiers and no cookies until you opt in.
If you click Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics sets cookies that help us understand returning visits, attribution, and session behavior. You can change that choice at any time using the Cookies link in the footer.
What we don’t collect
- We don’t use third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or social media SDKs.
- We don’t collect names, emails, or other personal information from this marketing site directly. The only path into the actual product is the “Start Writing for FREE” button, which sends you to the application where you create an account under separate privacy terms.
- We don’t sell, share, or rent any data we do collect.
Cookies and storage
We use one piece of localStorage
(a key called bve_consent)
to remember whether you accepted or declined the cookie banner.
That’s it.
If you accept analytics, Google Analytics may set cookies named _ga
and _ga_SMD66PV6KB
(Google’s session and visitor identifiers). They expire after
two years. You can clear them at any time via your browser
settings, or by clicking Decline
in the banner via the footer link.
Third parties
- Google Analytics (Google LLC, USA). Aggregated and, with consent, identified site usage. Google’s privacy policy ↗.
- Vercel (USA). We host this site on Vercel. They process server logs (IP, request data) for security and infrastructure purposes. Vercel’s privacy policy ↗.
- Google Fonts. The Libre Baskerville typeface is loaded from Google’s CDN. Google receives the request as a side effect.
- The Brand Voice Engine application is a separate destination with its own privacy practices. Anything you fill in there (account, brand profile, content) is governed by the in-app terms.
Your rights
If you’re visiting from the UK, EU, or any jurisdiction with comparable privacy laws (including California’s CPRA), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (which, for most visitors to this marketing site, is none).
- Withdraw your consent at any time via the Cookies link.
- Request deletion of any data we hold about you.
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in the UK, that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office).
Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default, then automatically deleted. Server logs at Vercel are retained per their policy, typically 30 days.
International transfers
Our processors (Google, Vercel) are based in the United States. When you visit, your IP address is sent to US servers as part of normal request processing. Both companies operate under standard contractual clauses for international data transfers.
Updates
If we change what we collect or how, we’ll update this page and bump the “Last updated” date at the top.
Contact
Questions about privacy, or want your data deleted? Email hello@witandcraft.com and we’ll respond within five business days.
Note: This policy is a working template based on what this marketing site actually does today. It is not a substitute for legal review. The Brand Voice Engine product application has its own privacy practices that should be governed by an in-app policy, which a lawyer should review when you formalize your terms.
